Is placed around 30 Km far from the main city of the Murcia Region. Sucina, which is a dependant village from the Murcia Town, is located in an area placed inland but not far from the Coast so-called as “Murcia’s countryside”.
Its origins date back to 1744, when this populated centre was considered as a Parrish for the first time, although there are some records dated on 17th and 18th Centuries where Sucina is already mentioned.
Arteaga, a Presbyterian who is still remembered as his name was given to a street and to a Public School in the town, donated the necessary land, which was part of his own estate that he was able to accrue thanks to his efforts, to build up the very first Chappel of Sucina in the 18th Century. What used to be a Chaplaincy in its origins, it became a Parrish, thanks to Arteaga.
Traditionally, and because of the geography of the area, the main source of income of this village has always been agriculture, specially unirrigated, where stone fruit trees, citric-trees and even vegetables grow. Nevertheless, the real estate development within the whole area brought an economic and demographic increase lately.
Sucina is provided with all the basic public services and facilities. For instance, there is a multipurpose room and a an assembly hall in the Social and Cultural Center facilities of the town available for Retired people and Youth associations.
